About the project

For the seventh time, Maximilian-Kolbe-Werk organises in 2016 an International Meeting for future journalists entitled "Close-up in Auschwitz 2016". The project will take place between 22 - 28 January 2016 in Oswiecim (Auschwitz), Poland.  

It targets 25 young people from Germany and seven other European countries who undertake journalistic training or study journalism.

Five survivours of Nazi concentration camps and ghettos from Poland and Sweden will participate in the project: Alina Dabrowska from Warsaw/ Poland (*1923, places of detention: Auschwitz-Birkenau, Ravensbrück, Buchenwald), Zdzislawa Wlodarczyk from Chrzanow/ Poland (*1933, Auschwitz-Birkenau), Marian Majerowicz from Warsaw/ Poland (*1926, Zawiercie ghetto, Auschwitz-Birkenau), Jacek Zieliniewicz from Bydgoszcz/ Poland (*1926, Auschwitz-Birkenau, Dautmergen) and Dr. Leon Weintraub from Stockholm/ Sweden (*1926, Litzmannstadt ghetto, Auschwitz-Birkenau, Flossenbürg).

Participation fee is 50 euro. Further costs for accommodation, food and program will be cov-ered by Maximilian-Kolbe-Werk.

Travel expenses shall be borne by the participants.

All the expenses (incl. participation fee and travel costs) of the participants from Ukraine, Belarus and Russia will be covered by Maximilian-Kolbe-Werk.
